Opera’s multichain compatibility is part of the Crypto Browser project effort, and it intends to make Web3 more accessible to the world’s more than 380 million mobile and desktop users.

Opera, one of the most popular crypto-friendly browsers, unveiled the integration of 8 blockchain as part of its ongoing initiative to provide Web3 to over 380 million mobile and desktop users around the globe.

Opera introduced the Crypto Browser project in January 2022, a Web3-focused venture for browsing decentralized applications (DApps), gaming, and metaverse platforms. The browser has extended support for eight key blockchain ecosystems as part of this project: Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, StarkEx, Ronin, Celo, Nervos Network, and IXO.

As per the statement, Opera users can now access the Polygon and Solana DApp ecosystems, and also “the benefits of Layer 2 DeFi via StarkWare-powered DiversiFi.”

The most recent integrations allow Opera users to use StarkEx to get access to the Polygon proof-of-stake blockchain and the Ethereum layer-2 ecosystem.

The objective behind integrating various blockchain, according to the business, was to assure chain agnosticism and Web3 participation in an environmentally sustainable manner. Jrgen Arnesen, Opera’s EVP mobile, stated:

“Ultimately, Web3 is on its way to becoming a mainstream web technology and users won’t need to know they’re interacting with it. They need to get a superior user experience and a true benefit.”

The statement also emphasized the importance of carbon-neutral solutions with low gas expenses, which is one of the primary reasons for selecting Polygon over the Ethereum blockchain.

Opera competitor Brave browser stated plans to incorporate the Solana blockchain back in November 2021 to boost its DApp potential, which has yet to be implemented.

We’ve partnered with @solana to integrate it into the browser and make it the default for DApp support. We will soon bring best-in-class wallet features for the Solana blockchain into our desktop & mobile browsers. — Brave Software (@brave) November 8, 2021

Brendan Eich, Brave’s CEO and co-founder remarked on the collaboration:

“With more and more users and creators requiring tools for fast and affordable access to the decentralized Web, this integration will seamlessly pave the way for the next billion crypto users to harness applications and tokens.”

Brave still has to disclose the inclusion of multichain functionality to compete with its increasing competitors.
